need opinions

I have a 55g tank and plan to stock it with one of these cichlids:
-Midas
-gold saum/ green terror
-jack dempsey

I was wondering which would you consider the best choice and why in terms of size, personality, ect.

and also are midas cichlids the same as red devils?

Midas and red devils are similar, but they are different species. If you are only going to do ONE i say get the midas... they are more nasty and have more personality IMO. You could do one dempsey and one GT if you wanted to, but I wouldn't recommend a Midas with any tank mates in that size tank.

The best fish on your list for your tank is a Green Terror. A male with it's bright colors and long flowing fins will make it an awesome showfish in a 55 and they're very owner interactive.

Also, the red devil and midas are two different species, but due to the proliferation of both of these species throughout the industry, they have become, quite frequently, mixed. Most red devils or midas cichlids that you will find, will be a hybrid of the two. You can probably get a pure version of one or the other from a reputable breeder, like Rapps, if you really wanted one.

I agree aswell, especially if your 55 is only 12" wide which seems to be common.

The Jack Dempsey is the only one I would recommend,because the other 2 get too large for a 55

I'd go with the green terror, which also is the most attractive of the choices.

Jack... They grow slower then the others... and IMHO are more colorful then a GT/GS...
