Nothing but shrimp? The poor guy. I took in a 3 yr old Tiger Oscar last Dec who was only 6" long, he'd only ever been fed Koi pellets once a week all his life. (His before & after pics are here if you want to see). His color was gone and he looked awful. Now 8 months later he's over 10" and has nice red coloring. It takes a few months but you're on the right track. Giving him lots of fresh clean water & feeding him a good diet will make a heck of a difference.

yea. shrimp all the time cos it shared a comm tank with an arowana, and here in asia, arowana's are "above all other fish" in terms of market value and beauty. Hence the arowana's needs came first, before everything else. Also, not sure if those underwater tanning lights we have here in asia would also affect the coloration of non-arowana/ cichlid species.

Beautiful coloration on your oscar though, i guess it takes time.

Just think of your new Oscar like a dog you'd take in from the shelter.

On first arrival he isn't the most beautiful or healthy, but in time and lots of love he'll become a very satisfying pet.

How do you prepare the peas before fed to an Oscar? Frozen, thawed, cooked. I know you take the skin off but how do you prepare them?

Use frozen shell em and throw em in the tank no need to thaw.

dont worry the problems you are experiencing are virtually nil dont worry about percentages just make sure your lid is taped down as these fish very easily jump out.

In answer to your earlier question, dont be fooled by the oscars size they can move surprisingly quickly
