Got a few poly's! They have very minor cotton kinda stuff on them at the moment. What type of medication should i use? melafix? Advise me! I didn't see it until one of them started running around scratching his side on the gravel!

Should i remove all gravel and leave it a bare tank? It seem like they're messy eaters when it comes to pellets.

I need some cleaners.. but no one reccommends pleco cuz most of them are about 4-5"s! Any suggestions? Corycats? Chinese algae eater? Otto cats?

I don't know about the medication. I would not suggest otto's however as my polys ate some I tried. What I have now are a couple BN ancistrus who are doing a good job and don't bother my polys. However when my polys get big maybe they will see them as food?

oto cats would be eaten

pretty sure chinese algae eaters eat slime coat, which will kill the bichr

cleaning crew = you and an algae brush

I might as well change my name to algaecleanerman!

btw.. bare tank or no?

im not sure but if it is cotton looking stuff it is probably fungal and you would need to treat accordingly. and depending on current size of polys that determines what you can get.

25% water change and add salt always works for me. It that doesn't work add Melafix. Some say over feeding brings it on. I don't know how you can over feed a bichir though. Mine eat everthing I throw in there.

Not necessarily. Try the water change and adding the right amount of salt. If not add Melafix and don't over feed.

LOL. (not in response to the OP)

sounds like a fungus that salt and higher temps should clear up. if not, use anti-fungal med

you could try a raphael cat for clean-up of uneaten food, but get a larger one as they grow very slow
