THANKS!!! that helps sooooo much! Going to being doing my weekly water change today after work! Raising the temp to 82 for now before I leave to work!
Anyways, I think I have to remove all the gravel... when they eat the sinking hikari pellets, they tend to crack it open and leave bits of this and that everywhere...!
 
Try sand mate as the food sits on the top and its easier to clean up and spot it easier,i used to have gravel in all my tanks but i dont have it in any now because like you said all the uneaten food gets trapped in the gravel more than with sand,and the bichirs wont have any chance of choking on it,

I used to have sand in my tanks but decided to try bare bottom tanks and I love it
makes cleaning up way way easier and its even better if you have a spare tank.Heres what i did on all new tanks ispray the bottm outside glass either a sandy brown or black and then i silicone some fake plants to the bottom just a thought-Anne
