Hi guys, can anyone recommend me a quiet and powerful air pump that can be used to churn K1 media (around 1200 grams) in the sump + aerate the main tank (120 gallons)
The air pump has to be quiet as it will be placed in my bedroom where the tank is..
Please advise, thanks..

A tetra whisper pump would be ideal I think :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I did some research on the tetra whisper and came across Alita and Jehmco air pumps which are recommended by a lot of aquarists..
Not too sure which model suits my tank though, the alita al-6a / alita al-15a / jehmco dapmh15
The main focus is to aerate the fluidized moving bed (K1) to 'boiling' movement..
Any ideas?

A liner diaphragm pump, a large model, can work for you. It's noisier than a normal pump but if you stick it away it's really not that noisy and has a huge output

Jehmco are just rebranded Alita for a few bucks cheaper. That's all we run around here. They're not silent, but nothing unreasonable, especially if you've got an enclosed stand.

Which would you suggest that could work well for my case? Preferably the brand and model number..

No wonder they look alike from the pictures online.. Unfortunately, I don't have a stand..
My tank runs on a side filter and overhead filters for easy maintenance (I'm handicapped)
As long as the air pump doesn't make me lose sleep at night, I'm ok with it..

I looked at a Boyu Se001 I believe. See of you can make some sort of noise insulating box for it

They definitely make noise. How big is the tank and sump? Maybe you can get by with one of the more high-end diaphragm pumps, which are virtually silent?

Call the guy at jehmco. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when I spoke with him about my air system.

You could also relocate the pump further away in your bedroom closet to help keep the noise down. Or in another room or downstairs.
