ok i need a new filter with a decent media volume and excellent flow rate that stays powerfull even when full of media and i will order it this week.
the thing is it has to fit inside my cabinet so the eheim pro 3 2260 is out.
here are the cabinet specs.

inside cabinet
height 22'' and this is max

door appeture size
height 19'' max
width 15.5'' max

the filter will need to be able to fit through the door although this can me manouvered in on an angle and the pipe fitted afterwards.
the filter including pipework can really be no mmore than 21'' high to give a little leway for maintenance.

i only want a decent make the filters i have are ok but when packed with media the rate slows dramatically.

Howdy,

The Eheim 2250 is a bit shorter than the 2260 and still a decent filter - depends on the size of your tank.

.

1 or 2 FX5's

actually i meant no to the 2080 pro 3 not the 2060.

i really need someone who has a fx5 to check and see if it will fit in my stand as i am not too sure and dont want to order it then not be able to use it

go for the 2250, eheim classics rock. Very reliable, never clog, intake on the bottom so no bypassing of media.

Or even two 2217's, they're cheap, I have 2 on my 180. 1000 l/hr each, decent filter volume. I have those 2 plus a fast powerhead with internal canister, and a UV steriliser.

How big is the pro 3 compared to 2260? I have never had a pro 3, but the 2260 has a faster flow rate and intake on the bottom.

i already have 2 aqua pro filters running and will keep the 1200lph filter and remove all media except the KM-1 media to speed it as it has some filter floss and small amount or sponge in it.
i will remove one of the aqua pro and keep it for my smaller set up when i need it.
the 2260 does not fit as its 22''.
the 2050 looks good but not enugh flow rate plus the pro 3 2080 is also to big.

it looks like it may be the fx5 i go for but need to find out if its fits so if anyone has one set up and inside a std 24'' cabinet with the sizes i mentioned previously cold they advise.

thanks all

Go for a eheim wet and dry as well as a fx , then you have the benifit of a a trickle filter as well ..Had a fluval 404 and a eheim 2229 on my 6/2/2 did the job..

What's an aqua pro dixon?

made by some german company look like eheim but the pump is no where near as powerfull although they are very quiet and are made quite well.
they are around 2 years old now and work exactly as they did when i first got them but i knew i would eventually have to update with the fish i keep and was planning on it for this month as i am getting it for my birthday today.

wildy i would just go out and buy 2 filters if i could but as i am spending £37 grand on my house i am really skint the filter is a birthday present as mentioned above.

after looking into this all night it looks ike the FX5 is what i am going to go for i just need to get confirmaton it will fit my stand.
so anyone with dimensions like mine please advise if you have a FX5
