I just bought a 50 gal hex tank.
I'm planning on an mbuna setup. Anyone have pics, specifically with hex tanks?

I dont know that a hex tank is a good setup for mbuna, not really enough room to establish territories.

i got it for $20 so i plan to use it. I'm going to have tall plants and do large and small pots i think.
i've done several small mbuna in a twenty and they were fine. i'm looking to give them more space, and at the moment this is my best bet so i'm going to make due with what i have.
i'm planning to work on it this weekend, and hope to have some shots soon. may be going out to cleveland in two weeks to pick up a pleco and some little guys.

i was even thinking of fitting some pots ontop of each other, pyramid style or randomly and siliconing them together. my fish all love pots and will hide anywhere. i'd love to do rock, but since i have a limited floor space, i want to maximize my space

A lfs that I go to has a bowfront with African Cichlids. They just did what you were planning (doing the pyramid rock work) and they also had some Anabius all around with Sand substrate.

thinking customizing it so it's not a straight wall, and forming it so it fits right into three of the corners at once maybe...

rustys, aceis, red zebras, along those lines. thinking of throwing some rubescens in, seeing as i've kept them with my fish before and they coexisted peacefully.

my boyfriend had 3 in a 20 with 2 zebras. i've kept 2 rubescens with my red zebra, yellow lab and 2 rustys without a problem [theyre all small, i was growing them out before investing in anything bigger].
