Need some advice on giving small tank WOW factor

a land section would be a neat feature, and a 3D background would be a neat touch. A waterfall would be also very appealing.
 
I've done pea puffers before and they always drive me crazy because you can't keep much with them. All of mine have killed all their tank mates then killed each other. Looking at either a school of Pygmy cories and some pencilfish, or a breeding group of some really nice bettas and a few loaches, or finally a school of a small rasbora species and some moth catfish. Getting the rest of the plants in this week- some anubias and some grassy stuff I can't remember the name of, to fill in the right side. Hopefully ordering a Finnex Ray 2 LED soon, figure 100+ 7000k LEDs should help my plants a lot! Updates to come!

imho, you have too much red leafs in there, looks chaotic and cluttered. I think reducing them enough to bring out for subtrate and green plants would be the way to go. A quality piece of driftwood in the center would be awesome as well.
