Hi guys, I want to get some bass. In my region I can find only monos and orinos. So my question is which species is the best for custom 140 (6*2 footprint). They will also have a fire eel and 2 bichirs for tank mates.I know that they get pretty big and this tank is no suitable for life , but for year or two.And which species is less aggressive because I am looking for small group of around 3 fish. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!?

Maybe a year on some baby Kelberi. GL , they can be found for sale by sponsors.

Happy Holidays!

if you want a slower growing bass go with orinos although the trade off is their aggression. Or you can go with monos which grow faster but are less aggressive and tend to spawn fairly easily. I’m not sure what the goal is but if it’s to just grow them out and enjoy them you’ll more than likely only get a year out of it (not fish tank police just putting it out there) I respect everyone’s views on their hobby and truly believe experience is the best teacher, so go for it and just have a plan in place if ya can’t upgrade to move these fish on. Happy holidays and best of luck brotha!

+1

Either species would work for your footprint. Buy a few of each and keep 2 of the prettiest of both species in the end and sell the rest off. Orinos are aggressive but in my opinion theyre not THAT aggressive. They may chase other fish or bully them a bit but they dont shred fins or overly stress out other fish they more or less just try to keep everyone in their minds eye of "in line" and are quick to jump on someone who steps out of that line

Thanks and I actually respect adequate fish police.
I know that they can get really big but since I saw the pair monos which at maximum were 16inc. considered buying some of their fry

Now I am thinking for two monos and one orino. The monos will outgrow the orino and will put him in place. What do you think guys?

If the monos you get turn out to be a pair when they mature they will more than likely destroy the solo orino as they spawn in a tank this size, either way just give whatever you think a try and be ready to make the smart choices of moving fish if and when the times come.

??? Ive kept cichla for multiple years just never as a soul dedicated tank until about 4 months ago? As well as kept fish in general for 12 years. But lets not also forget the dozens and dozens of hours I put into researching each species. No Im not an expert but I know enough to give some advice. Apparently even on christmas people have to be grumpy and unhappy. Owell
