im getting a 55 gal tank and was wondering what kind of flowerhorns would look cool and that arent that aggressive

Also, Ive never seen a "non-agressive" FH. All of mine have been complete *******s to any other tank inhabitant, absolute terrors. There are always gonna exceptions to the rules but this is my experience raising a few to adults.

55 will be good for a while. 75 is be perfect for life. If you don't want to keep a solo fish then you should think about a different fish, flowerhorns are very aggressive.

You could keep a shortbody flowerhorn in a 55 by itself, they max at 8 inches, well, I've never seen one bigger. You might get away with a parrot for a tankmate but the parrot will have to be bigger than the flowerhorn from the start and even then it's a chance. I have a shortbody male flowerhorn and a male parrot together - it worked, but only because the parrot wouldn't take crap form the flowerhorn and it was bigger. The flowerhorn wouldn't show good color because of this, he faded out in submission, so although it could work, you wouldn't get the best out of the flowerhorn probably.

I have a red dragon with 2 oscars and they get on very well, even when feeding. Oscars are around 9" and FH is around 4". I don't find my FH overly aggressive. Awesome looking fish aswell, so colourful. Are you set on doing a FH set-up? Some nice dwarf SA/CA fish out there, I think maybe some rams? Will have to ask expert o. That though :) either way it's gonna look sweet. Good luck

Theres other cichlids that are just as nice as flowehorns for a 55g especially if ur looking for something thats NOT aggressive.

Yes 55 would be good for a while but a 75 is pushing it as well they get big
