OK people someone please help me out! I just noticed in two of my tanks that I have an infestation of very small white leach like worm things! On the glass in the rocks every where! I have never seen these things in all the years that I have kept fish. What the Hell are they and how do I kill them? I tried salt and it's been about three hours still not dead!:swear: :swear:

how small are we talking about? Might be planaria (sp?)

Or maybe hydra? But they don't look like worms

I had something like that for a while. They did not hurt the fish at all and they looked gross but I just kinda had to let them go away on their own. All I did was keep up on my tank mantainance.

i had the same prob before. i read in a mag that they dont hurt the fish but they are always around. overfeeding or to much waste is what makes them multiply because thats what they feed off of. i started doing more water changes and watching how much i feed(and my very food generous wife!) and after a couple weeks they wern't visible any more and havent returned for a long time. if u have the same thing dont worry bout ur fish but it is frustrating because it is VERY ugly!

ps my wife nolonger feeds MY(our) fish and everything is cool:grinyes:

are they quite small, and if you look at them closely have they got an eyespots as well as lumps from the sides of their heads? If so it could be Planaria. Planaria are a flatworms, related to the tapeworms. Planaria do not harm fish. But they are an indicator that the aquarium has a problem.
Over feeding your fish is the normal reason for this one.
