Hey guys, I know this is MFK but I don't have a monster fish yet lol. Maybe you guys can help me with my "small" tank lol

I have a 40G tank that my brother has been helping out since I've been at school. But overall from the Hurricane and other problems my tank is looking kinda weak (as far as stock is concerned). All I have left is

A 5 member shoal of tiger barbs
And one pleco (not sure they type, its not important, he is almost 5 and is probably like 4 inches big, I adopted him from my uncle, if he ever grows where he is to big for the tank I'll upgrade him somewhere else but I'm not concerned because currently its a non-issue)

The tank is mostly fake plants with a few real ones but I do have a huge piece of driftwood and whatnot.

I also have IN A DIFFERENT TANK a small convict cichlid. In an ideal world I would love to move him into the main tank (the tank is big enough for him, I'm worried about aggression, but the TBs are kind of aggressive as well).
If I could make the move to him to the big tank I would then considering upping the school size of Tiger Barbs.

If the Convict isn't moving the main tank then I probably won't want to up the school of TBs, I have a lot of them in the past year (probably about a dozen total). Seems like I lose one or two and then one fights another and gets injured and his mouth is shut and he ends up dying or little things like that. I love these guys but I would want to start something else.

So overall, I guess I need some suggestions of fish that can go with the TBs (and I really would like one show piece fish (such as my convict)).

Thanks in advance

(sorry for wall of text lol)

tiger barbs are fast moving and could avoid a convict, if the pleco is s smaller spesies it should be fine in a 40 gallon... can you post pictures of the pleco... are you planing on getting any larger tanks soon? If so a nice cichlid community would be a good choice... my cichlid community was so good that i got a couch right in front of it...

The deal with the pleco is that I took it from my uncle. I know they grow and slow and forever, I'll try to grab a pic of it and the convict for you guys. Not worried about either the convict or the bothering the pleco. Actually, if I move the convict over to the 40G then I can move this "toys" (including a driftwood "cave" and a "Clay" red pot) to the tank. Then I think I can get some more stuff as well. You guys are getting me a little excited lol

I tried tiger barbs in my 75 with various CA cichlids and out of 11 only 1 survived in a week. I never saw who killed then but Ive seen my cons chase them and I'd dare them eating the barbs the next day.

I tried tiger barbs again in my 135 thinking the bigger tank gives them more space to run and hide but they didn't last the night.

That is a common pleco and will need a 50-75 gallon tank... that looks like a male convict cichlid...

Yeah it is a male convict. I kinda assumed it was a common or maybe a bulldog or something like that but again when it outgrows I'll move it. Or hopefully by then I'll have a huge tank it could live in! He is almost 5 years old so I guess he is growing an inch a year?

What other tankmates can I put in this main tank? With the addition of the convict of course
