so ive been watching my afro and i saw a little white spot on his back fin. i thought i was tripping until earlier today it looked worst. i got salt and added it last night 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons and trying to get my temp up to 85-87. the afros in my tank with all of my other fish so i hope i can get rid of it soon. how long should i leave my temp bump for and when should i add more salt?
thanks

Afro's get white scrapes very easily... but not usually on their fins, hmm. I'm assuming it's not ich, but would need pictures to give any other input. It sounds like you are prepping the tank well though, so good job on that. Unfortunately this fish can be very fragile at that size.

ok yeah i saw one white dot on the tail and today i saw some more. looks like daphnia or brine shrimp attached to him but it doesnt move. it wont kill him to pre treat right

More white dots? It's probably ich, then, unless you can definitely say otherwise with your visuals.

I would go easy on the salt and get that temperature up. Don't be afraid of 88-89 degrees. No meds.

ich can't live above 86 deg F. leave the temperature above 86F for 10 days at least. i usually do 2 weeks if heat treatment for ich is needed.Posted on mobile.monsterfishkeepers.com
