My canister filter started to leak earlier today. So I have it pulled apart and I put some silicon where the leak was do you guys think it would be okay to leave my filter off but have my air pump running still for a day or so so the silicon can properly set up.

yes it will be fine w/ bubbles. Thats why its always good to run an hob like ac110 just in case. Also make sure tubes arent pulling on canister this can make heads leak.

Okay thanks and with my hood I can't run a hob. I the 55 I have it one is a jebo acrylic tank with curved Front corners. I got the tank prolly 8 yrs ago and got it as a full set. Hood stand and tank. If I modified the hood I could run one but I am just not willing to do that to it. It's way to nice of a setup for me to start chopping apart.

Then a sponge filter is a great alternative/solution!

Okay thanks I'm in the process of making something for that tank that is similar to a canister filter.
