I'll add more pics when he gets bigger, maybe that will help some. Im just baffled by what he is >< All I knew was he was pretty so i took him LOL (typical girly thing to do I guess)

Wow, thread revival. The original poster hasn't been on in almost two months, so we might never know what this fish is! The body pattern looks like amphilophus amarillo, but the eyespot on the tail and the red face throw me off.
Looks like a plain ol' rd/midas to me.
I see them like this at PetSmart and local shops every once in a while and usually they're labelled as RD's. There's no guarantee that it won't fade or that it's a real barred. Would be nice if it was and if it did keep the color.
I don't think it's anything more exotic than your run-of-the-mill rd/midas though.

Sure he does. A little more pattern and color but he's small/young yet and possibly even color fed from big hatchery ponds.
I've seen rd/midas that look just like that before. Those turned out to be nothing special. All the ones I've seen come in looking like OP's fish fade and/or turn orange.
