Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it. It’s 3/4in thick. The questionable sealed area inside is hard and not soft. The seams are posted below where the reseal area is. Didn’t post all of it as there’s a lot of tank but the seams all over look like the pics posted. Will definitely get it cleaned soon.

I think it'll be easier to see once it's cleaned up. It looks ok to me right now, hard to tell for sure. Filling it up with water and vinegar will test the tanks ability to hold water and clean it up at the same time. Like I said I let mine sit for a week in the solution before I attempted to scrub it and basically every thing wiped off that hadn't disolved or fallen off. A couple of rinses and I was able to see the scratches and abrasion areas. Looked like the guy I got mine from had used a scrubby or something abrasive on a couple spots which is one reason I opted to sand and polish. You may be able to just use novis and polish yours. Luckily I was able to take some good pics into the shop I talked about and was able to get their opinion on how I should proceed. I'm sure once it's clean someone here will be able to tell you.

just fill it with water slowly in case there is a leak farther up
Yea. Got it on some dolly wheels right now. Need to wait for something a bit stronger to sit on.

She looks pretty mint man ??... hell of a score. Cant ask for more than mirror quality seams. With that clarity id say its newer than i initially thought or was kept on a good stand. The “old work” on it seems pretty textbook also. Just looks to be an overflow that was cut out and patched up properly. Aside from a good cleaning, dont think shes gonna need much tlc past that. Depends how much u want to buff it if needed. Can get away with just 3 sides. If u paint the back itell hide any scratches on that panel all together. Ive sanded paper off the bottom of tanks, left it rough, painted and it looks clear from the inside. Novus or car polish for plastix goes a long way. Itell shine er up and hide most scratches. Can always start there for pretty cheap/easy. It wont remove any large gouges Or scratches like sandpaper but might make it look good enough to forgo any sanding.

Thank you for the reply. Water testing will begin today. Plan will be three sides cleaned up. Like you mentioned the back will be painted to with black. Thinking even to just use a plastidip on the back of it. That way it’s easier to peel off later. Because of my thought anyway. For plumbing I was thinking about putting some intakes and outlets on the very top of the panel. Do you think I can cut some holes into the top acrylic?

cleaned up well with vinegar and a magic eraser. Need some more tlc on the outside. Have some paint on the outside. Holding water at the bottom. Gonna do a soak with vinegar and water. Can I polish the outside to get the paint and scratch marks off?

Yes you can polish both sides. Looking good! You should also be able to drill any of the surfaces just go slow and use a high tooth count bit or one specifically for acrylics. And the head light restore stuff works fine but for that size tank find some novis.

Mcguires “plastix” works well and is alot cheaper than novus. Id say its equivelant to novus #2... can be had at autozone. They make a cple diff kinds of polish with heavier grit that can be used on acrylics instead of novus. Can polish inside and out as others have said. Lookin good already with just a scrub down ?. Second the drilling comment also... u want a bit with alot of tiny teeth and a pilot bit inside. Handyman/ace has them. Homedepot (atleast mine) tends to only carry 3 tooth bits or ones with no pilot bit inside...no bueno... Its just like drilling wood imo... can drill from inside and out halfway to prevent the bit from heating up and getting stuck in that 3/4”. I prefer a cordless for drilling tanks. Or highly cut the speed of an electric they go too fast and can bind up, also throws more heat. If it gets hot pull the bit out and stop until it cools. Going half way on each side keeps the holes pretty clean aswell.
