On the first morning they were with me i saw some white poop. That got me worried. I would like to know a few things about parasites & stingrays.
Im a newbie to ray keeping but Ill try my best to answer your questions. The search forums DO have a ton of answers to many questions. Especially the ones your asking. These are all answers based on what i have read in the past.
1) Does White poop only means parasites ?? Not exactly, most ray poop "should" be brownish in color and shaped like a cork screw. Keep in mind the poop will have different coloring based on the rays diet. If only fed shrimp for example in may be different in color compared to a diet of only nightcrawlers.
2) Is white poop the only symptom of parasites, or it goes with others like swelling or loss of appetite or laziness ? I would have to say that the ray would seem to have a hard time packing on weight and the appetite would decrease in time.
3) Will the parasites spread to the other fish in the tank, namely arowana ? If yes then how fast?? I would amagine so, your ray can get parasites from a fish that was added to the tank that has parasites. Not sure on the length of time.
4) What are the various methods of treating it ? as said previously, Prazi seems to be the number one treatment around here for parasites.
5) Are these methods same for all the fishes or just for rays.
Prazi can be used safely on rays and fish.
Waiting eagerly for your replies.
Im new to the ray keeping, I tried my best.
