EFFECTIVE LIFE OF THE ACTIVE UVHEAT LAMP

These lamps are guaranteed for one year of normal daytime use, which approximates to 12 hours use per day. The output of UVB is higher when the lamp is new but the decrease is not proportional. The reduction in output is greater at the start then slows considerably towards the end. The output of UVB can be more than 40 times that of specialty UVB fluorescent tubes measured at 12 inches (20.8 microwatts/cm2 compared to 0.487 microwatts/cm2). Even after twelve months of normal use the UVB output is more than that from specialty UVB fluorescent tubes, even when they are new. This, combined with their heat function, makes this lamp much more cost effective over the long term than alternative combinations.

Replacement of your T-Rex Active UVHeat lamps in the early part of the year with new ones is likely to trigger a stronger reproductive response from many reptile and amphibian species.

Save yourself some money and build an outdoor enclosure (doesn't have to be anything particularly large or fancy) and put your lizard outside for an hour or two a day. Fifteen minutes of natural sunlight is worth a whole day under a bulb IMO.

and scopions and bears and moutain lions and quail and road runners and other things that wants you dead

scorpions start to tickle after you've been stung enough times. I've never been attacked by a quail or a road runner.
