alright i have an empty 55 (empty in the sense of no fish but full of water) i would really enjoy having a school of piranhas what kind should i get how many and i was wondering if i could keep black skirt tetras with them oh and im running a ac110 for filtration so please help me out:)

Serrasalmus Sanchezi, grows to 6".... so i'd say 4 to 8. for the black skirt tetras i would say yeah you can keep them.

First Change your Location.. that way im not a partner in crime..
I would say if you like pygos and want something thats aggressive go with these small caribe i have been seeing lately.. they are stunners because of here rarity.. and aggression.. im figuring that you like most people will find a single specimen kinda boring.. but they often look the best.. theres no other stressors to compromise finnage and coloration.. you could also go with a **** load of whimples.. they are very active and dont get as large as the rest of them.. if you like single specimen i would say try and track down an irritans... i just sold mine to a guy over on WaWolves. he was kept in a 25 gallon cube and he was like a buzzsaw.. at like 6 inch captive max you cant really go wrong there.. like i mentioned in the other thread just get something you want for beauty.. and just hope that they are those cow eaters that everyone wants

i dont really want a single specimen i would prefer a school and i figured with the tetras swimming about the ps would be more active......and its not ilegal to own ps in NY just to sell them i think

its to own.. they dont sell them, so you cant own them lol.. you can also do a school of Gold Macs/Spilos.. very aggro p's.. and can be schooled if properly cared for

im pretty sure i could get the permit required to own them then because i know there not completley illegal and im really liking the macs its between that or the Serrasalmus Sanchezi

get a small rhom, it will do well in a 55 for a good while as they grow slow, give it a few months and the personality should break through. irritans are also nasty little ****s
the tetras would just be feeders btw

yea that waa the guy told me in fish store, you can have them but you cant sell them

ILLEGAL TO OWN..

off the fish and wildlife website..

States prohibiting the sale and ownership of piranha include Alaska, California, Hawaii, Washington, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, and Maine. If you find a genuine piranha for sale in one of these states it's best to notify the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Sorry people..

I would hate to say i told you so..
