I have been thinking about separating my male and female Green Terror.
The male is almost twice the size of the female. I know she is big enough to lay eggs since she has before BUT she seems to be holding back with the male in there...they seem to get along fairly well but alas no eggs.
Do you think that if I give her time to grow out a little bit then she would be a little more accepting of his advances?

i think as long as they arent fighting then i would go ahead and leave them together, however if the male is getting upset from her not accepting his advances and starts beating her up then would def separate so she can grow a bit more, also she may just not like him, some cichlids can be really picky about their mates... but i think if this were the case then you would already know if because they would be fighting like crazy GOOD LUCK

Yeah I don't know they have their days. These two aren't very aggressive cichlids to begin with. But he chases her a lot and she will just hide inside of a hollow log I have in there. I am also thinking she might not be getting enough food, the big guy is a pig and devours most of everything.

Well, if she's not getting enough food, then seperate her.

she doesn't look thin, but I don't see her eat a lot although her belly could just be full of eggs....what do you think?

yeah if hes making it so she has to hide then i would separate, even if she is getting enough food its better to avoid that kind of stress when she is trying to grow nice and big, on a side note my pair have been "dancing" for the past two nights now and male is cleaning off a rock so i might have babies soon to though can they breed this small they are only 3.5-4in i was hoping they would get bigger before breeding so their growth wouldnt be slowed....i may have to end up separating them as well but for different reasons LOL

i say feed them both more, tell they look like they nice and fat. then increase water changes.

that will probably help them spawn.

lol yeah mine are totally being adorable they are always swimming around the tank together and fighting off "enemies" together, +1 on the big waterchange, mine have always swam and hung out together since they been 2.5in but they started dancing and cleaning rocks when i did huge double 50% wc (did this to clean water after i scrubbed all this white algae stuff off my driftwood and to get out tannins, my driftwood leaches like no other)
