My mom came to me today with her albino bichir. She is moving, and for the past week all her bichirs have been living in a 5 gallon bucket. They were doing okay at first, but then they all started dying. all but one of them died, which she brought to me. After the hour and a half car ride, it was floating upside down and stiff. Its eyes were sucked into its body. she was pretty sure it was dead, but said it was fine a few minutes prior. I quickly got it into my sick tank, and started moving it back and forth to try and froce it to breath. sure enough, it moved a little.

I'm pretty sure this guy is still alive, but barely. anything i can do to save it? it was in horrible conditions for a long time, and also suffers from poor diet.

any idea what cause of death was? I mean, besides being stuck in a bucket with 6 other bichirs of similar size with no heat or filtration....

i'm curious what caused the eyes to be sucked into its head

Congrats on killing a beautiful creature because you place it in a pathetic 5g bucket.

IF you still have the bichir, you can hold it above an airstone and force air into the gill area, sometimes this will bring them back.

I just had an albino senegal die.. but he was deformed from a previous owner- Like he had a broken neck or something.

i told her not to do it. she just insisted on doing it anyways

Should have insisted. Even at my lfs, they place them in a 10g with a sponge filter.
