I have drilled countless tanks\sumps but this one scares me too much to drill myself. I need the sump drilled for a 3/4" bulkhead. The sump is 1/4" thick acrylic and I cannot shut down the tank for any extended period of time.

PM me if you're confident and how much you want to do it.

Just slow and steady my friend, you can do it and then look back and go what was I thinking with this being an issue, I drained and drilled glass sumps real fast that's not as fun as acrylic which is super easy.

My bid is one plane ticket and a bed to sleep on for the night, ill bring the drill and bits

What scares you Justin? Drilling acrylic is about as easy as it gets. Much easier than glass. How's the access? Distance from edges?

Thankfully all my bulkhead drilling occurred when I worked at the aquarium and they paid for my botched job (cracked a 40 breeder putting in a 3" bulkhead), not me!

$10 to drill and airfare, hotel, and meals

I'm scared of thin acrylic that bows. I dont know how to fix it if I crack it. I've drilled a lot of tanks and sumps but never one this thin that bows. I just prefer someone else that is comfortable do it.

You've seen this tank (the 330 gallon). Would you drill it if it were yours based on other tanks you've done?

You got this Justin; just take it slow so that the acrylic doesn't heat up too much and remember to never stop the drill with the hole-saw bit in the acrylic.

Who's going to be more careful drilling your sump than you?

Guarantee that if you pay someone to do it, you are going to wonder why you just paid someone to do something so simple. If you still aren't convinced you can do it, head down to Tap Plastics in Portland, pick up some pieces of 1/4" acrylic from the scrap bin (they sell it by the pound for super cheap) so you can practice. It's seriously a piece of cake.

Vegas sounds better and closer to me, but here in Utah would be even better, Hope to make it to a few someday, To bad not many crazies here in Utah, Come on down people the water is great here and the weather.

Sounds to me like you have 20 people behind you to drill it, A 330 gallon tank 1/4inch cool, drain it, drill it, just make sure you are far way from the edges, and fixing it can be alright if needed, ill help you get what you need is something happens.

These guys haha.. Do I smell another NW meet coming on??
