I have had my maik teacup for about two weeks. He is living by himself. 5 days ago I noticed that he suddenly had a raised brown bump on his back toward his tail. Sort of looked like a raised cigarette burn.
Today I noticed that the bump was gone and a new one (or the same one if it moved) is bye its gill slit.

Comments and suggestions please.

(i havent been able to get a good picture)

How big is the bump, sounds like fish lice (argulus). If it is the quickest way is to take him out in a shallow bowl and pic it off with tweesers. Not 100% without a pic though.

the attached picture is the clearest i have been able to get so far
it looks sort of like a raised mole
it doesnt look like the lice in the video that someone posted in response to my question
Whatever it was that had been further down on the back of the ray did not leave any mark where it was located

i would put him in a bowl and remove it, just to make sure it doesnt do any harm

Not clear at all. Go get your camera and put the MULTIPLE SHOTS option on. You can get up to 12 consecutive shots ...very fast, option available on your average point and shoot cameras.

HERE IS A VIDEO I THINK IT IS CLEARER

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3YgDB8CsFc

IT DEFINATELY LOOKS JUST LIKE WHAT HAD BEEN FURTHER BACK ON ITS BODY A FEW DAYS AGO
IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE THEIR IS A SMAILL ONE NEAR THE LARGER ONE
(WHATEVER "ONE" IS)

I think it is fish lice as previously stated. Shallow bowl and pick the up with tweezers. Have someone help you so you can do it faster and not stress it out too much. Watch for the barb.

If you're putting the ray into a shallow bowl snap another quick pic with flash.

OK, you can try to pick them up as suggested, or use medication for the whole tank. You'll have to medicate anyway to make sure you eliminate the larvaes as well.

-medication suggested "Ocean Free 'O' Anchor Worm & Fish Lice"

I'm still waiting for Mike to chime in, I don't know if Metronidazole is safe enough, definitely not Clout (way too powerful) ...let me research a little more.

Your choice, tweezers to start, or run and find the meds.
