Need to catch an inhabitant!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive had to catch some larger fish out of a planted tan and I used the hook and line method. A tiny barbless hook and some 3lb line. Worked like a charm with no ill effects to the fish...

You can make a bottle trap similar to this.

Keep a net next to the open end of the bottle and throw some food in the bottle. When the fish swims in to eat, swing the net around. Done, no chasing. I've used this for really small and fast fish and it works great.

Or you can always lower the water level as much as you can and go on the hunt with 2 nets.

Lol somehow I missed that project of yours midnight. :P

Ya, I've had great luck too with the lowered water level/two nets method. Even with Malawi peacocks and horseface loaches, who are really fast! Good luck.

Got him. Used patience. You know, it did teach me a lesson that I thought I already knew. Keeping species in tanks just to see if it will work, hoping it does, is not always a good idea, especially if it's a stretch.

Didn't see the trap post till after I got him, wish I had.

Glad you got him.I was going to suggest a night raid. All lights off after you normally shut them off.find and net him as quickly as possible using a flaslight.
