Need to know if green terrors are really that mean

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The one I had would attack my JD any time they saw one another. The JD would hide at the top of my tank among the leaves of my bamboo plant

Nope, in my opinion, they are not agressivee in any terms comparable to other species

My GT was cool with tank mates untill around 6-7". THen i had to put him in his own tank As my gt aggression got worse. In the begining i had him in the tank with a pearsei. . I have seen GT mild mannor compared to mine. It really can depend on the personilty of the fish. However i have had 2 GT (Gold Suam) and both being very aggressive.

My GT is the smallest cichlid (4" ) in my 180g, housed with various Vieja, and an Escondido. He's not overly aggressive but he willingly instigates fights with fish 2.5x his size and refuses to back down (just flaring and some minor lip locking). Doesn't do any damage, but fairly territorial. A long time ago I had a fairly large male GT that was a mean SOB. Definitely not going to see the type of aggression that an Amph or Parachromis will bring to the table, but they can hold their own with most CA and SA.

I grew one out in a discus tank years ago. No problems till he got about 6" then I moved him.
