need to lower my ph, any natural ways?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anyone ever use Keta-Peat Nuggets? It lowered my pH from about 8.0 - 6.0 in about a week. It makes the water look murky (blackwater) and I think fish like it. I think it looks cool.

Tony makes a good point with his city, all cities are different, minneapolis water was good, Heron lake water killed fish, worthington water is good but, i went to college in crookston and could not keep fish alive. but people thought it was funny to "get the fish drunk" never failed, some genious would come up with that one, one time a guy (my brother actually) had his whole head and shoulders in my tank "bobbing for goldfish", i had 3, 6 inch red belly piranah in there, plus the light was half way in the water. college was fun, just glad i survived it

i too agree with dannyboy on this one and have only once tried to adjust ph.
it did not work so i have never bothered again.
i have however tested my ph regularly over the past few years and have noticed changes in the tap water which was constantly 7.2 then went upto 7.8 and is now down to 7.0 which works out fine for me.
i have kept allsorts of fish in these different ph ranges from piranha to rays amongst many others and had no problems
