sounds like a great deal....to me its relatively cheap too (considering i could never get one :( ) ...i would say do it... maybe your Jar acting up is a sign that he wants to go too?

But, if it were me, i wouldnt ever let my Jar go...and i'd get both!!! :D lol
 
out of 1000 banjars you may get 1 thats nice they are a waste of time if you ask me
 
I like the asian aro body style more than the jar so I would go with the asian no matter how dull it looked. Plus you can put other fish with asians much easier, and the jar is usually a solitary fish. And they don't get as big.

Its totally preference, get what you want.

But even if the chances are slim that its going to be completely amazing (like tikarmann said 1 out of 1000) I think that any chance is better than no chance at all. Jardinis all look the same to me, you could get another someday, and aros are an investment, so if you grow it up and really despise it then you coudl always sell it for more than what you paid for it.
 
it is a great deal but how much do you like the jar?
 
i had a 2ft banjar with no color on the body at all with a slight hint of red in its tail

buy mixing a red with a green all they have done is make a dull body green

some hybrids are a waste of time and the banjar red is on of them IMO

the nicest part of an aro of any type is when it turns the light hits it and it grows you dont get that with a banjar
 
hmm, its all down to what you want from a fish? if you dont mind a solitary fish, then you prob want something with a bit of bite, which a jar certainly has when large, they also have the most beautiful markings going. where as 90% of G2 reds are dull like T1 says... but if you want to keep other fish in the tank then go G2... its easy if you answer that question it tells you what to do....
 
the thing is my jar has been too skittish for my liking
even though i like all my fish i wanted something that would at least not go on hunger strikes every time someone spooks him up

anyways i couldn't make up my mind quick enuff and i have to wait again as the banjar red is sold to some guy with a 4x1.5x1 tank
some fellow bought a new tank and thought the fish would fit in well

i would like to get a xback but then i would need to start earning fulltime before i can do that
and i think i get the point the banjar has red only at the tail and not on the body
i think i shall wait for another year and a half (thats when i start earning) or so and get a nice purple base xback or a chilli red
