Need to pick a new filter. Want your reviews of my choices

I love the penguin filters I have 2 and they run my 45 and 46 bowfront tanks by themselves. That my one issue is the possible overflow of water with the aquaclears. I know u don't need to use the blue filter cartridges on the emperors. I use the extra baskets for bio media. The tank is a 75 gallon but will be used on a 150 once I can set it up

The Fluval C Series HOB filter line is just too small for a 75 gallon IMO. I wouldn't even think about using them on a 55 gallon. I mean you could do it, but I wouldn't. I like aquaclears, but in some instances where space is limited (trouble with maintenance) and in spots I could never risk flooding I stick to penguins. The filtermax III prefilters will make flooding much less likely to happen. I use the prefilters on my aquaclears and don't have to clean the media in the HOB very much (the prefilter catches ALOT of the waste). Every other waterchange, I squeeze out the prefilter thoroughly. Personally my aquaclears have never flooded, but a couple of my friends have told me of expeirences where the sponge floated up and drained water on their carpet/floor. I stick as many HOB's that will fit on each tank. For a 75 gal with only HOB's, I think I would use two aquaclear 110's provided space reqirements for maintenance allowed in my stand area.

The penguins (350/200) have similar baskets too, you just gotta buy em seperately.

I just want the upgrade to workfor my 150 too. I have and emp 400 a cascade 1000, and a aquatop cf400 on my 75 right now

Got to love ac70s. I bought 2 about 5 years ago. I still use both of them. I even used one of them on a saltwater tank for about a year and it still works perfect.

In college I used the 2 ac70s to filter a 90g. Seemed to do a pretty good job.

I have quite a few emperor 400s. They are good filters but I prefer the ac110s that i have anyday quieter better flow lots of space for media. They are a little more pricey but IMO worth the cost. I will be using them from now on. Plus it seem like i dont have to clean th ac as often as the marinelands.
