Need to treat for Ick

Aquarium salt....you want the salinity at .2% There is a formula om here but it is usually about 2tsp per gallon . Make sure you pre-dissolve the salt in warm water before adding to your tank. Keep temp at 84 degrees min and wait. It should completely clear up in 6 days or so but keep temp up for at least 10 to make sure. I am doing the same thing as we speak to my tank. Damn LFS!!! Search there is a post on here about ich and salt treatment if you need specific mixture. Also throw out the medicine it doesn't work worth a ****.

Here is the link to the salt and its uses thread. Follow directions and ich be gone. Also do a 10% water change every 3 days and re ad the salt according to volume of new water. In other words...if you pull out 10 gal of water re ad the appropriate salt for the 10 gal of new water.

Your very welcome...I went the chemical route a couple years ago when I was a fish newb and it ended up killing my one catfish and bleaching the spots off another one. Guess I should have read the box LOL . Also the meds like coppersafe and M Green have been known to stain tank seals .

Well i have used this med before now this was probley like 5 years ago before i was on this site and learned all the new information. But at the time it did work great. But when you mention bleaching spots i dont want that to happen to the polleni.

Whenever I don't know if a medication will be harmful to my fish, I just use about half the normal dose. Then it isn't enough to hurt the fish, but it still gets rid of the ich.
