I have kept loaches and puffers for years and I just use a UV steriliser, you dont get it then as the cycle is killed.

Yup I have been there too many times. For awhile it felt like all the fish I bought had ich. I even bought fish I knew had ich and treated them.
I have never lost a fish to it yet. like someone said once you know the cycle and know what to look for it's just annoying Yet easy to treat.

What about silk plants and decor that has been removed from a ich infested tank, can the ich be killed by simply boiling these items?
