you know the person? hmm id ask for a better pic

I know him online. And I've asked for a better picture. It's a smoking deal and I don't want to give away too much info to let someone steal it from me.:D

I need some advice here people. Please help me.:) :D ;)

Never mind, it sold before I could figure out if it was good. Turns out in detailed pics, the chip was almost nothing. Doh!:( :irked: :irked: :irked:

I wouldn't for two reasons: One, you don't want to risk 120g on the floor + no replacement tank. Two, the full weight of the water is immense. Glass has to withstand that, and chips are like a domino effect. You get the first one, and it either expands or creates new ones.

I wouldn't sweat it, when you do eventually get a tank that size and its in perfect condition you will have piece of mind. Used tanks can be had cheap, but look what you are risking. Not worth it IMO unless something is in flawless condition.

You're probably right. But the chip in the newer photos was really tiny and inconsequential. And I don't think I mentioned he only wanted $100. But, you're right, piece of mind is worth more than I would've saved.:)

keep your eye on craigs list my friend..there are even better deals then that to be had if you're patient :)

Corner and edge chips like that are very common in larger tanks. What I do with them is to fill the chip with two part epoxy and let it set up for a couple of days. Stress cracks in glass start in the middle of the sheet rather than the edges. Granted I'll still turn down tanks if the chips are too large...

I define too large as any chip deeper than a third the thickness of the glass.

Patience isn't normally one of my strong suits, lol.:D

Great, thanks for the tip. I'll pass it on to the guy in Atlanta that bought the tank (who I now hate).:D
