OK went to start up my filter this morning and the pump is pumping way too fast. I had it almost turned all the way off. The overflows couldn't keep up. Here is the overflow I have.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...sPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
And I have a little giant pump 3MDQX-SC pumps 1100@ 1ft. That thing empties out the chamber in no time. What did I do wrong. Here is a pic of the sump. There is the bio chamber thena divider that water spills over a foam block then the chamber where the pump pulls from

What size tank? Are both drops working together? If not there won't be enough water going into the sump for the pump to handle.Does the tray which holds the filter pads have enough holes in it for the water to flow througe?Maybe the sump is too small for that much water to go through it.1200 gallons an hour is overkill. What size tank is the sump rated for?

yea, the pump for that sump (no pun intended) is wayy to powerfull for that tank.
unless your tank is like 300 gallons. then that sump is too small.

according to the e-bay description the overflow is rated for 1200 gph i'm not sure of the pump rating what it means 1100@ 1 foot is there a gph rating for that pump.
also you could try pinching the hoses to restrict the amount being removed only do this for a couple minutes youll burn the motor if its longer this should tell you if the sump is working proplerly could be you have some pipes placed wrong..

The tank is 300g the sump is 38g I think I got it I didn't have the overflow down far enough. Seems a lot better but I still have the valve opened only 3/4 of the way. Now I think that the sump is a bit too small cuz if I push the overflow down any further it might fill the sump too much if there is a power outage. If thats it then I have to deal thats the biggest sump I could get in the stand due to how its built in the wall.

Is it possible that when I put in the dividers it seems like the pump is emptying out ther chamber too quick, That the heights of the dividers are not set right and not enough water is flowing thru

OK Ill see what I can make. The overflow has 2 1" lines running to 2 inlets on top of the sump. There is a drip tray I got 110 1/4 holes in that with filter pad on top. That goes over the bio chamber . I even took out the tray to see if it was restrictin g but it didn't change
