Need your help car people!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have seen it work on obdII my 01 chevy s10

its more likely the cycle at fault that it was measuring was repeating successfully this time without any flaws, causing it to go off, over it actually being "reset" solely by disconnecting the battery.
also, all cars since 96 and newer have obdII
i'm not going to derail the thread any farther though.

Wow guys, thanks for all the great responses!

I took it to the shop today, as I dont have time to mess around with it. Im very busy this week and needed to get a loaner while they fix it. They ran the diagnostic and its the starter.

Im sure Im probably paying way to much for it but I need it done now.

Here is what they came up with, the total says $403.73+ tax. However they found a starter for $50 bucks cheaper I just have to wait until tomorrow to get the car back, so its going to be around $353.73+tax. Here is a picture of the bill. How bad am I getting ripped, or is this a decent deal? I looked up the starter on Autozone and its about $200. In the pic its $136 for labor and it says $267.73 for the part but Im getting it $50 cheaper so the part is $217.73.

Thanks again for all the help guys!

when you buy parts from a shop you dont get autozone price, retail plus.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.. As a previous mechanic I would have said first it was about a 90% chance of being a bad starter.. but glad to see you got it fixed up

I know, I was just using it as a comparison.
