Thin Bars are the most timid of the Dat species, they are more comfortable with hiding spots. Also they will not likely kill any other fish, just keep them away from his area. Like Muckie said, you can try adding a couple more caves.

i do about 20 percent water change around a week and a half.

i will add some more caves when i find something i like from the stores, or maybe some driftwood clumped together for a spot.

as for now, i've taken out the cave to see the reaction of the datnoid. of course he would be uncomfortable the first day since he was used to it, but he's starting to swim alot more now on the 2nd day. I hope that means that he's not stressed and could be left this way

I would do larger water changes. But I am not sure what your bioload is.
