Is it me or how could a Jag fit in a 40 gallon for five years!!! First off, those fish are not healthy especially that poor Jag-Jags are supposed to get anywhere from 12-16 inches-I would suspect if you posted a pic of your friends Jag that it would look deformed. There is no defending this guy!! And no he didn't make it work-yes the fish are alive but it does not neccessarily mean they are happy and healthy. I could live in my room for the rest of my life and eat hot dogs only-I may live for awhile-that doesnt neccessarily mean that I am happy or healthy.
completly agree but he doesnt listen. and fish dont stunt because of there enviroment. clean water and a good diet and the fish will grow. but anywasy i have a 60-65 gallon so i dont have to worry about space i was just wondering if this was a good idea to stock the tank to its fullest and reduce agresion and the jag was added about 2 years ago at 5 inchs and no fish look deformed

Fish dont stunt cause of environment? What about space? If you put a fish that is supposed to get to atleast a foot in a tank that is 4 feet long and only 10 inches wide then its growth will be stunted.

Okay, wait a sec. Just read your whole post and I thought the Jag belonged to your friend and had been in the tank for five years? And I was under the assumption ( by reading your posts) that all you had right now was a Midas Cichlid.

no it wont my friends fish are in a 40 gallon height tank and the fish are all 7 inch + fish do not stunt if the water is perfect. obviously an oscar in a ten gallon will stunt but examle a red devil in a 35 gallon will not stunt if the water is kept extremly clean

5 years ago my friend bought his first cichlids which were the cichlids i mentioned on my first post. not all the fish were added at the same time. all i have right now is a red devil cichild im trying to get his jaguar cichlid because i feel bad that hes cramped in a 40 gallon and hes a beautiful fish
