If you're using steel shims I have an idea. Get some steel tubing big enough that would fit around the tubing your stand is made of. Split it to make channel steel. You might actually be able to get channel that would work, so you don't have to split it. Use that toake your shims. If you need more space just tack some plate steel to it to space properly. You'll have to notch around the cross bars that run front to back. That way there would be no concern about any of your shims moving out of place, since they would be fitted around the tubing on your stand.

Hello; My thinking is that the load from the tank will run down the verticle braces of the stand. I would likely place shims under the stand directly below these verticle braces and the corners for sure. Shims spaced out under the other parts of the stand will not hurt and at the very least will be added insurance and is not a bad idea. Add shims untill you feel comfortable with the spacing, perhaps six inches apart?? The stand looks to be strong from the pictures.
As posted from others, the absolute best would be a very flat floor with no shims needed at all. This is a more involved process and I have not yet come across a truly flat floor. I nearly always have to use shims. Others have used shims with good results.

Yes it look like shims will have to be the way to go. I have no experience with leveling a floor, plus it still may need shimming one I level the floor so I will try my luck with the shims. I think you are on to something with the shims at least ever six inches.

I am not sure about the steel shims, I still have to find out where to buy sometthing like that from. I was going to try and find a steel company as see if they can make some shims for me.
I am not sure what are channel steel you speak of?

You're way overthinking it. Heed the advice of Pacumom. The solution of using a composite shims is perfectly acceptable.

Maybe you are right, just the thought of 800 gallon of water flooding my house is a little nerve wrecking..

Only the the vertical legs need to be shimmed under. The more places you shim the more likely you could over shim and compromise the squarness of your stand. Wedge shaped shims could slide out in some circumstances and also have to be stacked in even numbers alternating direction to be level. I would suggest a trip to the local hardware store and buy a bunch of different thickness washers and epoxy the stacks together, and maybe even in place under the stand. Once again only the vertical legs are supporting the load. Most professional made stands have adjustible feet attached to the bottom for leveling only on the vertcal supports. The simpler the plan the easier it is to execute so don't over thinking it to much.
