Needing some HITH help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have to be honest, they are *microscopically small*. But here's the things I've noticed on him lately. I could so much as show you how pristine my water is and always has been save for tannins from driftwood (I have 6 tetras, 6 boesemani and him for a stock in a 90g with two AC 110s.. not very much for a 90g).

They are there and alongside beside his eye in a horizontal fashion. Again, you don't see them because they are just too hard to get a picture of (the ones along the side can be seen in the first photo I linked to). The start of all this was with this:

At first I really just thought this was some sort of ding on him and it'd heal up. But it hasn't left and I'm piecing everything together. It is not fuzzy like a fungus. It's like a hardened white dot. Like a scab.

Again, aesthetics don't matter - I just want him to be healthy.

I may try the metro food again. They're not any bigger and from the last photo I linked some look smaller.

I also have quinine sulfate in my medical arsenal. Push comes to shove I will use it.
The problem is I can't use the traditional strong meds as he is scaleless.

However how much water to soak food in 250 mg? I'd have to dry it out but I am willing to do it

I won't give up on this guy, he is eating and acting normal and responding to me. He isn't worsening at least. I am so annoyed though because I don't know how or why this happened. I'm blaming carbon but I don't know.

Be careful dosing with metro on multiple occasions. 2 to 3 treatments would be the most I would go. Also sometimes pitting can be caused by other factors than Hex(such as bacteria etc.)

Hmm. I've done one water and one in food. And yes it can cause kidney problems which is why I'm not a big fan

It's probably parasites. He had a fungal infection a while back - probably a secondary infection caused by the parasites, and that is when I figured something was wrong because he isn't one to get sick - kanamycin cleaned it up nicely but he still has these dots.

Wondering if I should head for the quinine.

The product is is Crypto Pro by national fish pharmaceutical. Personally I think it will get the job done and finish it off so to speak.

Doing a WC and dosing. He hasn't had any meds for quite some time as well.

ugh.. used Crypto-Pro (tomorrow is day 5). did 1/8 tsp per 10 gallons for 5-7 days per the instructions of NFP.. and it didn't work.

suggestions welcome... this sucks.

it isn't water quality. I've tested my water up the wazoo, 0 ammonia, nitrates never high, nitrites always 0. I don't know what this is or why I can't fix it. There is no carbon.

Considering trying Furan-2 with metro food in a few days. Other than that, I don't have any other tricks to pull out of my hat and even if I did I don't think he'd have kidneys left. Going to rest him a few days with water changes. Diet is good, water is good, etc. I can't understand it.

Maybe it's bacterial. Maybe it's magic. Maybe it's caused by genies. I am losing it here. This is a last ditch.

...wouldn't magic be caused by genies?
