My friend has a 14" needle nose that he has managed to ween off of live food and has gotten it to accept cichlid sticks. Took a lot of work, but it can be done.

thats why the gars take food head first

How did he wean him off I have other fish in the tank that i feed shrimp pellets and crickets he wont even grab it if it hits his nose but put a group of rosys in and i've had him eat them 2 at time.
