i got a pair of needle nose gar at the lfs yesterday got home and started reading about them not actually being gar... im not bummed that bad since i only paid $24 for the pair. the guy was thrilled that someone with an adequate home for them was looking at them and gave me a discount. i now have them in my pond with my pair of pacu, (6" long) and goldfish, currently there are about 200 goldfish fry in there so they shouldn't be lacking for food. i just want to make sure that when the pacu and needle nose get bigger they will get along alright.?.?.? any personal experience with this pairing???? please let me know if im alright or im looking at trouble down the line...

I think you might run into trouble as the pacu grow. The various needlenose/needlefish/false gar species tend to be slow growers, and don't get particularly large, while the pacu are very fast growers and get huge. Just something to keep an eye on as they grow.

pics at this point in time are all but impossible ive only seen one once since i put them in the pond and it took off as soon as i stepped foot on the bridge but they look exactly like this one

there are a million places for them to hide and when the weather starts to cool off im gonna have a hell of a time catching them to bring them inside... if they settle down ill get pics otherwise it wont be until there in the basement

would a pair of long nose or short nose gar do alright with the pacu? anyone with experience with this pairing?

You just have to be careful because the gars are very fragile fish and the pacus are pretty aggresive so you would prolly have to buy gars that are big enough.
