Pretty sure starving them works. I vagelly remember the time my store got some and I refuesed to feed them feeders for like weeks. All I fed them was pellets. They lived so I guess it worked. I know it did for the TSN.
feeders never did my needlenose any harm when i got him he was 5 1/2" now hes around 8-9, at first i fed him guppies then rosies now hes on the medium comets and hes so healthy.
