Well my tire track eel is swimming weird up side down breathing heavy water conditions are all good all other fish are great. He has been doing this for about 5 days and has a small kinda of internal lump right before or at his anus area. If it was bloat he be dead by now I don't know what this could be. Help anyone?

Has he been treated for IPs ever? hard to tell by the pics but he looks like he may be full of worms and they will cause a variety of problems, including boyancy type issues and looking full even if the fish hasent't eaten in weeks, gasping yet the rest the tank inhabitant being fine. Prazi-proing the tank would be my first suggestion. What does he eat?

Feeding shrimp, krill, shiners. He would get a internal parasite when no other fish do? How hard is that pazi pro stuff on fish and where can I find it?

Its likely he's had them since you aquired him, they seem to be exposed to them and very good at picking them up compared to your avergae hobbyist fish, Prazi-pro ime is one of the least detrimental medications out there. I've treated many spiney eels, rays, catfish, gar, exotics with it and never had issues with it. I even dose it ever 6 monthes or so just to be safe with my spineys. You can get it at most private LFS, far as I'm aware the big chains don't carry it. or you may get it online. It's a broad spectrum medication for flukes/parisites. Sadly when most eels go belly up an extended amount of time irrevocable damage has been done. It's def worth a shot, but he's most likely not going to pull out of this particularly if hes been like this for almost a week.

So are saying even if he would pull thru and live he would still be swimming all messed up? Or do you mean that internally he will never be the same again? I will try out the prazi pro n hope for the best thanks man. Also does this medicine need to be feed cuz he's not eating?

Naturally if you can soak his food in it, it would probably work better, but in your case just dosing the tank will have to do...

The damage may already be done permanently, but it may not. and yes what Homer says.. treat the tank.. but if he starts eating soaking his food in it can help if he'll take it. I know a few have injected nightcrawlers with it for larger eels to mask the taste. BUt for the lil' guys its hard to do. I've had good success with treating the tank once a week for 4 weeks.. sounds like alot. But you do your regular water changes during that time ( ie treat the tank every weekend after your weekly water change) imo if he starts eating again after treatment you have a very good chance of pulling him threw it.

Thanks for the replies. I will start dosing the tank asap. And he is about 14in so not to small can down a night crawler pretty easy. And one more question is there 2 types of tire track eels one only getting about a ft and the other like 3ft or is there only one version?
