Neeed help tire track eel...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can try some antibiotic. It may have an infection inside it's system. One of my tiretracks had a 3" round worm under the skin. I wrap the eel in a dry towel and dug it out with a sharp pair of cuticle scissors. It was nasty but had no other option.

Well 3 days in treatment with the Pazi pro and no noticeable difference but still alive...

prazi can take a week or so to work. its getting enough medicine internally to start killing the worms. at 14" you should be able to inject a worm with the prazi to get it directly into his system if he'll eat it. I had a fire eel that took almost 2 weeks before she "blew out" a bunch of dead worms.

and yes there are 2 species of " tire track" eels. M Favrus and M Armatus. The first getting 24" in captivity the latter getting 3'. The difference other then native habitats is the belly. Favrus' pattern will continue around the belly and Armatus will have a tan unpatterned belly. The other species often labeled as a " tire track" is the zig zag which gets approx 8"-10" in captivity. Its markings and body shape in general easily distinguishable from the other 2. M Dayii also looks extremely similar to the tires when young except they develop large spots instead of the trademark tire pattern giving them the common name " black leopard eel"

Well he made it 14 days... he has passed. Idk what went wrong still pazi pro didn't seem to help but I tried.
