Ordered a pair of Neets from Jeff Rapps last week both fish came in at a thick and chunky 5 inches and both with small nuchual humps and identical in appearence and I mean IDENTICAL and are throwing down 24/7 and unleashing hell on anyone who dares to even look at them the wrong way one of them was locked on to my 16 inch arrowanas jaw this morning trying to rip his face off absolutely insane the arrowana is big enough to eat him and it doesnt even remotely fase these fish! How can I tell the male from the female???????

HAHA...GOOD OL NEETS! They are, pound for pound, one of the most badass cichlids out there. I, like a jackass, gave my last one away a few months ago and really wish I wouldnt have.

At that size, their fins are a dead giveaway...and Id divide them ASAP if they are both males (mainly because Im in NC too and Ill buy one of them if theyre both male and you need to get rid of one).

Ive looked at those same 2 pics over and over and over and over no clue man neither has the long fin filaments like the male or female in those pics!

If there are no trailers on a neet over 3-4 inches, its female or theyve been ripped off by other fish. Mine at 4" had long flowing trailers...

VRWC what were you thinking man why would you give that fish up?

man...youll find out that they are in no way shape or form community fish. I had the neet with a spawning pair of ex-C. istlanum in a 265g tank and it was the only way I could keep fish with the neet. The pair would stand their ground and the neet wouldnt mess with them. Alone, hed try and screw with either one. He kept 1 HRP and 1 convict in hiding the whole time I had them in the tank with him. When the neet was smaller, I kept him with another one and about 25 different grow outs and they terrorized every single fish in the 265g with them.

al-Qaeda HAS TO BE the arabic translation for Neetropolus Nematopus
