bottom one is male 100% sure, top one, its hard to see his body against the dark filter behind him, but id be about 98% sure hes male too.
Isle try to get a pic of the one by the filter again but I would be shocked if Rapps got it wrong he said it was a male and female so let me try and get a better pic!
Well if he said hed get you a pair, he did and more than likely the top pic is the female. The dorsal fin on it (as best as I could tell against the filter) looks more rounded and smaller than the other fish. Hes the only one that imports those guys, so he knows them better than anyone.
1 thing though...if you have a pair, theyll most likely need their own tank, as you can see already tell from their actions. 1 male is hard enough to keep with others, but a pair is damn near impossible unless its a huge tank. Even then, whatever its kept with will need to be nastier than the neet, which is almost impossible to find.
Keep me in mind if you decide you want to try something else or dont want them anymore. Depending on where in NC you are, Id love to get them from you and give them their own 55g. PM me if youre interested in trading for something as well. I plan on doing a Rapps order sometime soon so if not, no worries.
Hey Basstian182, that male Neet look awesome, I use to have a male some years ago, and I agree with vrwc, they are nasty... I got rid of minds for that reason also, and after getting rid of him, wish I hadn't... I was thinking of trying a pair of Neets with a pair of 5 spots Jewels (The General), in a 100 gallon tank, do anybody think I would be a chance of it working? Maybe with 3 silver dollars, also... And perhaps a synadontis catfish. I would love to see it work, because I believe that the Neets and the 5 Spot Jewel are two of the nastiest cichlids pound for pound, just like to see them exist in the same tank, with that bad ass attitude. I don't know any other small cichlid with that attitude, do anybody have any other cichlids that is known to be that nasty on the same level as them two?
I am having a hard time getting a better pic of the one cowering behind the filter im frustrated because the slow reality is hitting me that I beleive I was sent 2 males!!!!!!!!!
