I doubt so very highly with fixxed cover the chancho will be able to catch a neet.

When in danger or attacking they can enter warpspeed - in a nutshell theyre, excuse my french, ****ing fast. In my opinion drop a few females or males (has to be same sex or there will be hell) in there with the chancho and all will be good!

Basically my neets have absolute free reign over my tank due to this fact. Once they've learnt your layout they can duck and weave to no end, they're excellent evaders - even with similar sized sa/ca's they cant be caught.

how large do neets get? do you have an idea of how 'tall' they get?
one advantage they have over chanchos is they are much more streamline. one thought i had to help them was to make a little 'castle' of 8" long pvc pipe sections that i can silicone on top of one another to create a few layers of pvc pipe they can use as their home base. what do you think of that?

Agreed. They are fast. They remind me of cave dwelling african cichlids. It should be fine. I did not think they were that mean, just territorial. Give them caves and hiding places and they'll be okay.

I say you try it! I think it'll be a nice mixture between brute strength and pure speed! I've owned a chancho before.... they're not nearly as fast and quick as the smaller Neet!

** That means you'll have to do a Rapps order soon! **

i was getting feedback from the cichlidae forum that neets are not as aggressive when kept with similarly sized fish... is that true?
i just remember hearing they were only insane while breeding more so than other cichlids

Its more-so the fact that if not breeding theyre fairly docile - but still do nip. All the bad stories on the net are with regards to breeding neets.

Like I said earlier, get a bunch of females - mine are doing excellent!

I wanna start by saying that I love neets and I'd love to have them again, but from my experience, they're little SOB's. They are fast, you have to give it to them, and no they aren't completely psycho - somebody gotta stick up for them, but they are little instigators.
Mine nipped the crap out of anything, smaller, same size, bigger, didn't matter and mine never paired up so any aggression was just neets being neets. It got to the point where out of all the fish I kept with the neets, it was only the neets that kept nice fins, everyone else looked tore up, and not having a spare tank I traded them in.

man, your story just makes me regret getting these little devils
oh well, i'm getting 4 of them... so hopefully i end up with two pairs that i keep across a divided tank! then they can just be mean at each other across the divider :grinno:
