Recently my life has changed dramatically, basically **** hit the fan with family stuff, divorce, rehab, the whole sort of bad news you dont want to hear. In the midst of all this time I have neglected my fish. Ive been so busy and wrapped up in all of that other **** I havent taken time to do what I enjoy. Just a few minutes ago I fed my fish and saw my Peacock Eel "Thorn" poke his head out the sand, (specifically the fish ive neglected most). All last year, I would always try to pet him and he would come up to my fingers with his pointy little nose and just sniff them. This time, I put my fingers in the tank and he approached and started rubbing his body on fingertips. I know many people have had this happen with Fire and Tire Track eels, but it honestly made me think he missed me. I dunno maybe I am just over thinking this, but I had not put my hand in the tank for months and it used to be an everyday occurence before that. It was weird, but at the same time, made me happy? Kinda strange but I realize I do care for that damn eel and ive realize I am going to take better care for him. Hm, this was just sort of a picker upper I needed lately. Anyways, thats just somethin random from tonight!

I agree he prob did miss you... my rtc misses me.. and he likes a rub sometimes too... hr prob did miss you and its an upper for you too.. it will get you back into it and remind you that not everything is messed up..... :) Sue

What i liked about your post is that something as simple as enjoying your aquarium again was very + for you. For me,the small things like this are a nice break from all the realities of life. Keep your head up !

i have no doubt some fish enjoy human touch, catfish and eels have very sensitive lateral lines that they use for prey detection and many other things we do not understand when you touch them they get an electrical signal overload, i have seen a guy that induces trance like states in great whites by touching the electrical receptors on their nose.
Hope you give your eel lots of attention now they are cool.

hey i was wondering, in order to give better attention (and feeding) for my eel I was thinkin bout gettin a pair of Kribs and letting them breed then feeding the fry to my eel. Do you think he will go after them?
