I have been looking into adding about 6 Neolamprologus multifasciatus to my 20 gallon tall and making it a species tank. I am having a hard time nailing down where I can buy a few specimens. My LFS is looking into it, and I have yet to find any online.

The LFS store had said they have a type of crushed coral specifically for African Rift Lake Cichlids. I believe it is crushed coral mixed with sand. I have hard water to begin with, would this be advantagous to have in the aquarium or would cleaned sand work?

Do any of you have a good internet supplier for them?

What is a good price?

Thanks in advance guys

On line for multi's a good price would be 5 bucks each at most pet stores they will go for like 10 bucks or more, but on line you have the high priced shipping so if you can find them local either threw you LFS or a basement breeder or even a local fish club it would be better in the long run..

As for the sand if your PH and Hardness values are fine like you said a regular pool sand would work just keep up on weekly water changes and you values will stay in check.. if your values are not in a good range for them than yes aragonite sand and or crushed coral will help out with that.. again weekly water changes to maintain a stable environment..

A side note - you can still use crushed coral even if your levels are great.. your call my friend..

Thanks for the info Pitt. I have kept fish for about 18 years and I have never owned a PH kit...I guess its about time to break down and start using one.

I generally sell mine for 4-5 $ a piece. never had any complaints about pricing so i'm assuming it's a decent price. wish i knew how to ship, i'd send you a few.
