neon vs cardinal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I prefer cardinals myself, have a hard time keeping neons alive. Cardinals are much hardier, and get a little bigger. I got myself both neons and cardinals, and the neons died, one after another. I still have all my cardinals, and no neons.

i like the cardinals better cuz of there colours, i like the red and bhue layout, i find that they die less often and grow bigger, they last upwards to 3 years with me where neons have offset colours and are smaller at adulthood and dont live aslong., i always get 19 at a time and end up getting 20something.

I swear by cardinals...They get larger than Neons, hardier, better schooler IMO, much more red, and stronger coloration...Unfortunately they do command a higher price tag...fortunately I go straight to the wholesaler....lol.. I havent kept small tetras in a while since I havent had a discus setup for over a year now....but when I do have cardinals I make a rule of always haveing a good 10-20 neons in there too...they will all school together, to the casual observer they are all the same thing...but to me the neons are the canary in the mine shaft...they are the first to go or get sick when something is wrong with the water....nice to have a warning ;)

Neons do die very easily! Plus cardinals are soooo much better looking. If you can find some at your LFS I'd go for them, it's worth the money.

I've gotten about 50 of them at once for 50 bucks, good considering their price was 1.99 each. I wish I would of gotten more, as the bigger the school, the better it looks.
Relaxing on the couch with some cannabis and watching the 60 gallon planted with 50 neons is bliss.

I've bought 60 pcs of neons and about 12pcs died during the travel
