i think the neons would be much to fast for the con to catch anyway.....as long as u keep her fed she shouldnt cause a problem..
wow i dont know what sounds more ridiculous, you asking the question or so many people telling you its a good combonation. neons are tetras, true, but that doesnt mean they all share similar characteristics. theyre not such fast moving fish like phantoms or buenos aires. a lot of time they just sit in the water column ripe for the picking. regardless of male or female or size, i guarantee that convict would kill the neons. maybe not by eating them outright but at least by beating them to death or chasing them to the point of stressing out. plus, lets remember its a 20 gallon tank. even fast moving fish wouldnt have too far to run in that size of a tank.
if you want to waste 40 or 50 bucks and wipe out a school of neons, go for it but i certainly wouldnt.
Sure they sit still and not dart around at all times like some tetras but they are tetras and are able to dart out of harms way if needed. If the female doesn't see them as a territorial threat she isn't going to harm them. If kept well fed she won't see them as a food source. And I don't know where you spend 40 to 50 bucks on a school of neons when they are a dollar a peice at Wal Mart.
your right......unless they are in her territory they aren't a threat and yea where would yea spend that kind of money on neons?........i say go for it and just see what happens...........In a 10 gal the whole tank would be her territory.
A 10 gal is not a big tank.
I have a f- con that is pissed because she has to share a 75 gal with other fish.
She attacks an arrowana that is 4-5X her size. Shes only 2 1/2" and the arro is 9-10 in.
