Neons And Cons

as you can see with the responses you've gotten, there's simply no way to tell for sure what would happen. there's the chance that she could not see them as a threat and leave them alone, or she could see them as a snack and try to eat them. I don't think she'd harrass them out of territorial behavior though.

personally, I'd try something a little bigger like a larger tetra, barb or rasbora species. something quick and that will stay towards the top of the tank. hey, what about silver or marbled hatchets?

:)

That is not always true. A female will not always lay eggs just to lay eggs. I have seen several females that have been kept in community tanks that did not lay eggs or even show a lot of color.

You might know I'd already mentioned that. If you had read...

some females don't lay and protect their infertile eggs on a regular basis but I'd rather not risk it.

ive got a breeding pair of cons that allow guppy as small as half inch in thier tank, they were ment as feeders but they never ate them. It all depends on the fish's personality.

um, id never buy neons from wal-mart but i guess if theyre just going to be food for the convict it doesnt matter. and when i say school im talking twenty or so fish, not just five or six. if you plan on just adding half a dozen they stand even less of a chance. but seriously, go ahead and try it and let us know what happens. id bet money the neons dont last a week.
